Welcome to Make Writing Magical for Kids! The goal is to inspire kids to want to write every day.
MY STORY
Writing wasn’t always my favorite subject, but it is now. I love finding fun and creative writing activities that will inspire kids to want to write. I have taught in a classroom for over 10 years and online since 2020. I love both modes of teaching and find that you can inspire kids in person, online and all over the world!
I teach elementary students in person, but I also teach online with Outschool. After having such happy writers and positive reviews on Outschool, I was recruited to teach in China. My job included teaching classrooms of students over a big screen and also small groups on zoom from home. It was a fascinating experience. I continue to teach kids from all over the world.
LET’S INSPIRE KIDS TO WRITE
The goal is to inspire kids to WANT to write. I have seen reluctant writers become excited writers. I have also seen avid writers love it more. What I teach isn’t magic, but it is a magical experience. If you guide your child with some simple tips from me, I think it will make all the difference for your child to write. Even better, it will give them the confidence to want to write.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO MAKE WRITING MAGICAL?
Books! I love pairing writing activities with books we read together. One of my favorite activities is reading the book STUCK by Oliver Jeffers and writing outside under the trees. The kids are provided with a fun story starter and write their own version of the story. All my students wanted to share their stories out loud when we returned to class. They were clearly proud to be authors. “I can’t believe I threw my whole family in the tree” laughed a student on the way out of school at dismissal. Check out my TPT Store to find the activity or you can make your own, it’s simple! Our librarian read this book to my class and we went outside to write under the beautiful trees. It was one of the kids’ favorite writing activities of the year. To get a FREE copy of the story starter for STUCK, download it from my TPT page.
Follow my blog to stay up to date on fun and creative writing activities plus advice for inspiring children to want to write. My experience online and in the classroom has been truly magical and I want to share what makes it magical with you. Follow along as I share my writing success stories with you.

Hi Jodi,
I wanted to reach out and introduce you to Classful and our new Courses feature. It gives educators the chance to share self-paced video lessons or resource bundles with a wide audience and earn monthly payouts as learners enroll.
Publishing is completely free, and your courses become visible to more than 150,000 educators, parents, and lifelong learners in the Classful community. It’s a simple way to expand your reach and add an extra stream of income from the work you’re already doing.
Would you be open to exploring how you could publish your courses on Classful?
